When i am about to die, the only forms that should appear b4 me should be that of the Lord (Krishna) with the beautiful flute kept on his lips , with the peacock plumes slantingly placed on his head and with the body as blue as bluestone

Joggers Park

Dear friends,

A joggers park seems to be pretty much analogous to our lives. People jog/walk/ run over the track depending upon their fitness and needs just like different kinds of people who live in this world for various needs.

  • Some people who are fat , walk/slow jog because they want to burn the accumulated fat.

  • Some other people jog/run just because they like to do so.

  • Some people jog/run because they are health conscious.

  • Some people concerned with their appearances jog/run say because they simple want to maintain their physique eventhough they don't actually like jogging.

  • Some people are professionals that have olympics as their aim.

Similarly , there are different kinds of people living in this world

  • Few people live because they want to burn their bad karmas (karma yogis)

  • Tonnes of people live this world to enjoy its resources to the fullest extent.

  • Some people live this world to reach their intial and the highest state of mukthi.

Depending upon the efforts and constant practise , they slowly move towards/steer towards their objectives. One shoud note here that the objectives are different for different people depending upon what they are currently and it would only feasible for them to reach it. Just like a fat person who can only jog to burn the fat , a person with bad karmas can only try his best to negate his accumulated bad karmas. Even though a fat person might have the aspiration to race in the olympics, it is definitely out of his reach . This is just like a person who wants to reach god but has lot of bad karma (dirt) left in his pockets. Hence , it becomes ultra-critical to cleanse ourselve before we can ever get closer to the state where the doubts about god fade away. Only then a person can become truly religious. How can this be done ? Just like a person who aspires to become a marathon runner seeking a help of a guru/ professional to expedite the process , a spiritual aspirant should seek the help of the right guru while constantly having the faith in God.

Apart from this , there is yet another class of people who hate/lazy to jog and hence they don't jog. They simply laugh at people (esp fat people) simply because they can't jog. These are like the atheists who don't have faith in god and these folks laugh at people who have the faith.

Now, Why and Where are you trotting??

Good one Krishna :)..Regd negating Karmas, I presume you meant that doing good karmas does not negate the bad ones :)

Our thalai says :) -

api ced asi papebhyah
sarvebhyah papa-krt-tamah
sarvam jnana-plavenaiva
vrjinam santarisyasi

Translation: "Even if you are considered to be the most sinful of all sinners, when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge you will be able to cross over the ocean of miseries"

So I guess fat people should not lose hope :)

Good analogy Krishna...The second point you said "Some other people jog/run just because they like to do so." is a true form of bakti in acharyas opinion (and my opinion too). Praying for the sake of praying is the ultimate thing. But this is not be confused with doing with sigh. It should be accompanied by full enthusiasm. The greatness of Periazwar comes to my mind. He is not choronologically earlier nor sung many paasurams nor regarded as the greatest Azhwar. He is called so because He was the one to even bless Narayana (Pallandu Pallandu Pallairathandu...). While every other Azhwar sang in praise of Krishna, Periazhwar was feeling pity for Krishna as how he survived all evil being a small kid. Such a Vatsalyam. Doing for the sake of doing comes automatically when there is enough Vatsalyam.

Dear Krishna,

nice post, I agree with you and Kasthuri,
Bhakti must be for its own sake and like the aazhvaars we must love Narayana completely without expectations.
dear friends , for all those who desire a direct vision of Krishna-Vasudeva I request you to read the Gopala Vimsathi of Swami Vedanta Desika daily. its beautiful poetry and a path to Krishna-consciousness as well.
best wishes

@ arjuna ,,

thalai pesinal , naan pesa vendam, irundhaalum thailiyin adiyen agivitten illaya , athanala thalaiyaa support panni reply ezhudaren.:)

i think ,by starting to do good karmas , a person is making a progress towards his intital and final state of bliss.

just like a person that might dream to become a olympic star but can never make it happen since he doesnt have a suitable physique (that is the minimal qualification), i guess a jignasu can't get any closer to god till he gets himself off the ridiculous state by starting to practise good karma..

obviously, for all the bad karma he/she had done , he/she will be punished by law of karma That is something inevitable ,yet one has to realize the consequences and strive to do watever that takes to take him atop.

Hope i made it clear :)

@kasthuri

mikka nandri -"king of analogies" ;)

azhawars are definitely the epitome of bhakthi.thanks 4 the info abt Periazhwar. Gotta read a lot about them and their divyaprabhandams Reading, enjoying , understanding the essence and trying to live our lives accordingly must be in the "to-do" lists of every jignasu.:)

one request.. can u plz elaborate a bit on wat exaclty is "vatsalyam" .. ?

@ anand

Thnks a bunch

i guess all we need is a bit of a self-awakening so that, "that intrinsic love" for god is just brought to out attention.

I have listened to gopala vimsathi. guess i got it from "prapatti.com". It was a sweet nectar for the ears and the soul.

Krishna,
There are nine forms of Bakthi and five bhavas, a kind of self-forgetfullness in Bakthi. One of such bhava is Vatsalya Bhava which is motherly love.

"In Vatsalya Bhava, the devotee looks upon God as his child. Yasoda had this Bhava with Lord Krishna. There is no fear in this Bhava, because God is your pet child. The devotee serves, feeds, and looks upon God as a mother does in the case of her child..." all this and much more in

Everything finally is from brahmanandam.
As an advaitin, the only purpose of life is to raise above the samsaram, to which i am manifested by the thiruvilayadal, and realize the real 'I'.
