Krishna,
shocking is not the word. to put our M.S.AMMA in such a picture is an act of cultural savagery.I hope such things don't continue.
yeah..very true..shows people won't hesitate to do anything for money..
what an insult to the great lady...
insensitive ppl, who dont know what they r doin, cant appreciate their roots i guess
Relax guys. That i understand was a collage for their section on Tribute. I liked the tribute, though it did not contain a lot of superlatives, which are associated with BharatRatna.M.S.
I see the collage as much as a potti kadai owner keep a spiritual magazine next to a dirty journal. Though i would not welcome it, i donot get really offended if that has been done unintentionally.
Just my views..
guys,
Such an act can have varied opinions but at least most of us that know the difference shouldn't remain silent . btw,Am not hinting to join a mutiny against this but at least point out the lack of rationalism
here is something interesting..
The above picture was posted in the website of a magazine called rave that claims to be the premier indian magazine and the primary meaning of the word "rave"(N) is , an extravagantly enthusiastic opinion or review:..but here they have actually raved (as a verb ,speak out irrationally) by not being rational about the way they had projected the great musical talents.
@bharath..
yeah...great insult.knowingly or unknowingly..and definitely this is something that the media should be more careful
@vatsan..
thnks for turning ur attention to this blog..will check back ur blog sometime..
yeah..the guys who might have done this defintely seem to be insensitive ...
@tj.
I certainly wouldn't have bothered if it was done by videsi or an ignorant desi individual or organization. But since it is from a premier music magazine from India (at least according their claims) , I had to bring it to focus..
There way I see it - it was a collage of 2 artist - great in their own fields. Music is great in whatever form. Just coz we love one doesn't me the other isn't. Its more tasteless than disgracing. I'm more irked by the first one.
Visithra,
Welcome to aham brahmasmi..:)
It's true that its an act that shows their tastelessness and I am sure that they wouldn't have done this if they were able to differentiate between the 2 great artists..Truly great musicians both of them when when it comes to aural pleasure depending upon the taste of the listener but when it comes to the purpose behind the music, I think ours is far more superior and when one equates them in any way,,it definitely looks ugly..and it should be brought to the attention and thats exactly why I posted it..hmm..am not expecting u to see the point but i would be glad if u can actually do..:)
neways..thnks for ur thots..
I dont see anything wrong..
There are ppl who find Death Metal interesting but not carnatic. They say its beauty and beast..
In anycase beauty is MS there..(atleast in the foto)
sathya..
dude..u always seem to take the funnier side of things...kool it is sometimes...
As i had mentioned in one of my comments, the problem with the collage is equating 2 great artists that are totally different on the grounds of purpose behind their music..some people don't give a damn about this aspect of music ...For those bunch of guys, this might be no big deal..
Is that not life both good and bad ?!!
nope.. its just maya..yeah..it's in the way we perceive things...
when i posted that i was in an average human plane...:) and hence the projection of both good and bad..
hi easwara
thnks 4 ur thots
but plz dont get infuriated ..its human to make mistakes ..:)
Krishna,
What's wrong? I dont understand.!
That was a collage wasn't it...or am I looking at something different.
I checked again..looks like she doesn't fit-in near the guy next to her.
Sorry folks, I don't agree. We don't know the other guy (at least not me).
I don't go by looks.! Its the talent. Its my 2 cents.
naryanan sir...
taking music as an art to enjoy and appreciate talents is only subsidary to taking music as an art to achieve the most important thing in life (to reach god) ..
u might rebuke this but my thots are based on those of Saint Tyagayaa who said
"Is there a sacred path than music and bhakti?". "O Mind, salute the gods of the seven notes". "The knowledge of music, O Mind, leads to bliss of Union with the Lord "
This post might or might not seem to be slanderous depending upon the way u view the above mentioned subtle difference..I am saying this despite being aware of the fact that it is a collage...
btw,These are just my view points and my intentions were not to challenge urs or someone else's ..:)
@ narayanan sir,
u might want 2 check out the stuff i posted next 2 this one..
Not too big a fan of MS as my family is, so I guess my reaction towards this will be a little muted..
@vinesh,
The difference that might not be so obvious would only be visible 2 ppl that know the significance of the above discussed aspect of music...(purpose behind the music)
So..i am not really surprised if someone doesnt actually find the collage 2 be a simply thoughtless piece of work..
btw, i restate here that am not trying to challenge or offend anybodys' musical tastes' ..This post is just a projection of my thots over the picture..
